UK's biggest Disney fan gives sneak peek inside invite-only Cinderella castle suite

The UK's official biggest Disney fan landed the ultimate break of dreams - an overnight stay inside Walt Disney World's Cinderella Castle itself.

Kathryn Chung has been crowned the brand's biggest fan in a @disneyparksuk competition, having battled her way to glory in a ten day global competition against ten other mega enthusiasts.

The 32-year-old went from submitting a 60-second video explaining the level of her passion to competing in challenges during a 10-day "holiday of a lifetime" to Disneyland Paris, Walt Disney World, Florida, and on the Disney Wish cruise ship.

The Hackney, London woman was crowned the UK's Biggest Disney fan by Strictly Come Dancing star Janette Manrara on the final day, securing herself one night's stay in the Cinderella Castle Suite at the Florida resort.

As any hardcore Disney fan will know, you can't book the Cinderella Castle suite - you need to be invited by Disney for a stay as it's only used for very special occasions. (Being crowned the UK's biggest Disney fan is one of them!)

"Having that stay in the Cinderella Castle was mind-blowing, I have always dreamt of staying there," Kathryn told The Mirror.

"It was out of this world and super super rare. When they say once in a lifetime it really is. You can't buy the experience. You have to win a competition or get invited. It is like a fairy-tale room, but in reality. In 3D. You can touch the bed and the detail."

Access to the suite is granted through a secret door beneath the archway of the castle in the Magic Kingdom, which is always locked tight except for when a special visitor arrives.

Kathryn and her husband Richard approached the door and it swung open for them, revealing a room crafted lovingly by the Disney Imagineers and packed full of Easter eggs.

One of the first things the design and technical manager noticed was an old antique clock stuck at one minute to midnight in a nod to the Cinderella story.

As well as an ornamental glass slipper presumably belonging to the urchin-turned-princess herself, a crystal shoe with an engraving of the day's date was left waiting for Kathryn.

Despite her dinky size three feet, the Disney fan was unable to squeeze into it.

"On the structural columns, on the top of the details have the sculptures of Cinderella and the little mice," Kathryn continued.

"You can see Jack Jack and Gus dotted around the room hidden. There's these beautiful mosaics surround the jacuzzi, within it you can see the glass slipper in front of the castle.

"There are little books that have fairy tales in as well, and lots of little gifts other characters have gifted Cinderella, including books from Belle and a telescope.

"You are just captivated by it all. Cinderella has allowed me to stay in her room."

After 10 days of whizzing around the world battling it out for the Disney fan tiara, Kathryn was ready for a good night's sleep in the suite.

When she awoke the following morning she took great delight in watching park guests arrive in the park from within the castle and following the Cinderella story on beautiful stained-glass windows.

At the end of the experience a Disney concierge escorted them out of the suite and into the park at large to continue to magic.

As part of the experience a member of staff is on hand at all times to make sure suite guests have everything they need - a Mickey waffle in Kathryn and Richard's case.

Had they wished to, the concierge would've escorted them out of the castle and straight onto any of the rides.

Along her path to glory Kathryn and the nine other mega-fans were treated to a series of bonus treats by Disney staff, including surprise premier access and lightning lanes, as well as little dessert parties and breakfasts in exclusive areas of the parks.

"We had Pandora Kingdom exclusively to ourselves when the park was closed, and you never get to experience the parks when they're not open," Kathryn added. "It was just amazing."

In the suite Kathryn also found a special Cinderella castle suite magic band which acted as a key to the room, stationary with a letterhead of her surname and eye masks with Prince Charming's emblem on it.
