Wiltshire renewable energy firm Good Energy has been named among the best large companies to work for in the country.
The Chippenham-based supplier received the highest possible ‘world class’ accreditation, after its staff scored it on an annual survey produced by employee engagement specialist Best Companies.
The company, which employs more than 250 staff and has more than 270,000 customers, placed 52nd on a national list of companies with more than 200 workers. The chart was topped by North West barbeque restaurant chain Hickory’s Smokehouse.
Good Energy also ranked second in a national list of utilities employers, just behind fellow sustainable provider Octopus Energy. The firm said an independent assessment of the survey its workers had taken found 90% said they "loved" working for the organisation.
In addition, 85% were found to have said their team was fun to work with, while 79% said their job was good for their personal growth.
Good Energy’s chief operating officer Fran Woodward heralded the company’s “huge achievement” after the challenges it had faced in the last few years, including from the Covid-19 pandemic and the energy crisis.
Ms Woodward said: “We’ve succeeded in building a great culture, one where our purpose and values are reflected in how everyone acts and how we operate as a business.
“Peer-to-peer support and real teamwork are at our core, and it’s been great to see that shine through in the feedback from colleagues. I would like to thank all of our staff for their efforts. Together, we’ve created a working environment which brings out the best in everyone."
