The UK has confirmed 82,451 new cases of Covid-19 in the past 24 hours and 138 people have died with the virus.
Cases are up from 38,409 last Monday, but today's data also includes numbers from the weekend as the Government has stopped reporting on Saturdays and Sundays.
The number of deaths have also risen with 138 recorded today compared with 35 a week ago, but once again today's figures include the weekend which means comparative data is skewed.
A total 7,873 people were admitted to hospital in the last seven days because of Covid.
The Government's coronavirus dashboard, which used to be updated daily, now doesn't provide an update over the weekend.
While reporting has historically been released each day at around 4pm, today's stats were delayed.
Thousands of vaccinations were issued today, with 4,841 people getting first jabs, 10,606 people getting their second and 15,710 people getting boosters.
The news comes after all remaining legal Covid restrictions were removed in England last Thursday, including the legal requirement to self-isolate if you test positive for the virus.
The requirement to wear face masks on London public transport has also been scrapped.
The UK went into lockdown in March 2020 and now the Government has revealed financial support for those who opt to stay home with free testing will be removed in April.
Some clinically vulnerable people and their carers say the rule changes mean going back to living a more restricted life and taking bigger risks every time they leave the house.
It was revealed yesterday that tourists going abroad may no longer have to fill in complicated travel forms when they return to the UK after their Easter holidays.
Covid documents required of travellers seem set to be ditched after Health Secretary Sajid Javid backed the move.
Government sources told The Mirror it is now “fairly likely” the change will be in place before families jet off for the Easter holidays.
A formal process would still have to take place, with ministers signing off the ditching of the passenger locator form at a Covid meeting in the coming weeks.
Transport Secretary Grant Shapps is understood to have been pushing for the move to help the travel industry get back on its feet.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson hinted Covid documents could be ditched in time for the Easter break.
He was asked by Labour MP Ben Bradshaw why the “bureaucratic and irritating” documents were still needed when they aren’t by other European countries.
The PM responded by saying the form would be reviewed by Easter.
Tory MP Huw Merriman, who chairs the Commons transport committee, urged ministers to give the travel industry a “much-needed shot in the arm” by getting rid of the form.
