United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer has announced a key summit in London aimed at advancing efforts for a 'just and lasting peace' in Ukraine. This initiative comes in the wake of a failed meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and US President Donald Trump, which disrupted diplomatic progress.
Downing Street released a statement on Saturday reaffirming the Prime Minister's steadfast support for Ukraine and his commitment to ending Russia's illegal war while ensuring Ukraine's sovereignty and security.
The upcoming summit in London will bring together European leaders, including Starmer and Zelensky, as well as representatives from the European Union and NATO. The primary focus of the summit, as outlined by Starmer's office, includes strengthening Ukraine's current position through military support and increasing economic pressure on Russia.

Additionally, the summit aims to work towards a comprehensive peace agreement for Ukraine that guarantees long-term stability and the ability for Ukraine to defend against potential future Russian aggression. Discussions will also cover plans for robust security guarantees moving forward.
President Zelensky's visit to London included preliminary meetings with Prime Minister Starmer, who emphasized that the world is at a critical juncture three years after Russia's initial invasion of Ukraine.
