The UK's general election results are facing a delay as a recount has been called in a constituency in the Scottish Highlands, pushing the final outcome to likely be announced on Saturday. The seat in Inverness, Skye, and West Ross-shire, previously held by the Scottish National Party with a majority of over 12,000, was initially expected to be declared early Friday morning. However, a second recount was deemed necessary, leading to the postponement of the announcement to Saturday.
As the nation awaits the final results, only two seats out of the total 650 remain undecided. One of these seats is South Basildon and East Thurrock, anticipated to be secured by the Conservatives. The current standings show Labour leading with 412 seats, followed by the Conservatives with 121, and the Liberal Democrats with 71. The Scottish National Party holds 9 seats, Sinn Féin and Independent candidates each have 7 and 6 seats respectively, while the Green Party, Reform, Plaid Cymru, Democratic Unionist Party, Social Democratic and Labour Party, Alliance Party of Northern Ireland, Ulster Unionist Party, and Traditional Unionist Voice have 4, 4, 4, 4, 2, 1, 1, and 1 seat(s) respectively.
