Members of the Lexington Police Department are facing a lawsuit filed by UK football players. Six University of Kentucky football players were arrested at an off campus house party in March of last year and charged with burglary. A grand jury later dropped those charges and now five of those six players are suing the Lexington police officer who directed the investigation.
Reuben Adams, Jutahn McClain, Vito Tisdale, Joel Williams and Andru Phillips filed the lawsuits against officer Cory Vinlove. They allege that Vinlove knew there was no probable cause to charge them and quote “embarked on a journey” to frame them for a crime they didn’t commit.
Officer Donnell Gordon, Police Chief Lawrence Weathers and the Lexington-Fayette County Urban Government are also listed as defendants in the suits filed in U.S. District Court.
