UK Eurovision's Mae Muller scores 'victory' in contest before grand final

Before she's even sang a note in Saturday night's final, Mae Muller has already scored a Eurovision final, topping the mock results at Friday's final.

With the United Kingdom still very much part of the Big Five, Mae didn't need to compete in either of this year's Eurovision semi finals to land a place in the grand finale and, with the UK hosting on behalf of Ukraine, she has also known for some time that she will be performing last in the final, with her track I Wrote A Song.

At the time of writing, the Eurovision winner odds had her averaging around ninth in the betting, behind red hot favourites Sweden and Finland.

Mae performed last in Friday night's jury final, with her performance being scored from jurors from across Europe and Australia, before the public vote based on what they will see on TV on Saturday.

With the jury final also being a preview for the main event, the Eurovision hosts staged the always exciting results segment and it was the UK who topped the standings as Graham Norton announced the winner.

Mae received a wild reaction from fans in the M&S Arena for her performance earlier on in the night, with many audience members praising the impact of her staging as well.

She follows in the footsteps of Sam Ryder, who also won the mock vote for the UK last year, before going onto finish second behind Ukraine's Kalush Orchestra in the actual final.
