UK Black Pride 2024: When is this year's event in London?

Since its inception in 2005, UK Black Pride has become Europe’s largest celebration of African, Asian, Middle Eastern, Latin American, and Caribbean heritage LGBTQI+ people.

The event describes itself as a safe space to celebrate these diverse identities and cultures. Each year, London sees what has become the world's largest celebration for LGBTQ+ Black and people of colour. The event comes just over a month after the capital saw thousands take to the streets for the annual London Pride event.

Nearly 20 years after its first event, UK Black Pride continues to inspire and empower the community, promoting inclusivity and equality for all.

This year, the event will take place for the 19th time, bringing thousands of Queer people of colour and their allies together in the capital.

What is UK Black Pride?

UK Black Pride is Europe’s largest pride celebration for LGBTQI+ people of African, Asian, Caribbean, Latin American and Middle Eastern descent.

The event began in 2005, to celebrate the identity of the Black Queer communities in the UK. Now after 19 years, as stated on its official website, UK Black Pride has “grown to bring together people from wider cultures, gender identities and backgrounds”.

When is UK Black Pride 2024?

This year’s event is set to take place on Sunday, August 11.

Where does the event take place?

The annual celebration will take place at its usual place in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London.

The space is the largest the organisation has occupied since its inception in 2005.

What is this year’s theme?

The theme for UK Black Pride 2024 is ‘Freedom and Justice’. As quoted in Attitude, the organisers have said this year’s event is “a celebration of our right to love freely, live authentically, and be unapologetically ourselves”.
