Georgia Bulldogs senior linebacker Smael Mondon has declared for the 2025 NFL draft.
Mondon won a pair of national titles and SEC titles during his four season career at UGA. The 6-foot-3, 235-pound linebacker battled through injuries his junior and senior season, but remained productive.
In 2024, Mondon recorded 57 total tackles, three sacks and three pass deflections. He finished the year as Georgia’s seventh-leading tackler despite not playing in a game in all of October. Down the stretch, Mondon was especially impactful. He posted 39 tackles and three sacks over Georgia’s final five games of the season.
Mondon played in 51 games in his UGA career. He recorded 213 total tackles including 17.5 tackles for a loss across four years.
Georgia will miss Mondon’s combinations of experience and ability to blitz. The former five-star recruit from Paulding County High School had no remaining eligibility.
“The past 4 years have been the best years of my life,” said Mondon via social media. Mondon went on to thank Georgia’s coaching staff, his family, Georgia’s training staff, and UGA fans in his NFL draft declaration.
Mondon is ranked as Pro Football Focus’ No. 179 player in the 2025 NFL draft. Mondon is projected as a fifth- or sixth-round draft pick.
