The Georgia Bulldogs are projected as a No. 8 seed in the NCAA Tournament according to ESPN’s latest bracketology. Joe Lunardi, who updated his projections on Tuesday, has Georgia playing Creighton (a No. 9 seed) in March Madness.
Georgia’s next opportunity to improve their NCAA Tournament hopes will be on Wednesday, Jan. 22 at the Arkansas Razorbacks. Georgia (14-4, 2-3) has 46.6% chance to beat Arkansas (11-7, 0-5) according to ESPN. The Georgia at Arkansas game will be televised on SEC Network at 9:00 p.m. ET.
The SEC is the best conference in basketball and has a nation’s best 12 teams projected to make March Madness. Georgia is coming off a disappointing week where the Bulldogs lost to No. 7 Tennessee and No. 1 Auburn. UGA had a chance to really improve its NCAA Tournament chances, but suffered a narrow 70-68 loss to Auburn.
Georgia fell out of the rankings after last week, but the Bulldogs are still close to being ranked. The Bulldogs received 39 votes in the latest USA TODAY Sports Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll.
Georgia has a potential first-round NBA draft pick in true freshman Asa Newell, who is the Bulldogs’ leading scorer.
