UFC star realises he has dent on his forehead after securing first victory

UFC star CJ Vergara reacted with shock when he realised he had suffered a dent on his forehead during his hard-earned first victory.

Vergara fought on the preliminary card at UFC 274 which was headlined by Charles Oliveira's victory over Justin Gaethje. He managed to snag a split-decision victory in a toe-to-toe encounter with Kleydson Rodrigues to secure his maiden win after recently signing for the promotion.

However at the post-fight press conference Vergara noticed a significant injury shaped as a dent on his forehead, which took him by surprise. "It's not too bad, I mean... oh wow it is a bit of a dent," Vergara said while shocked. "What is going on here dude? It was probably that spinning elbow I guess. I have a dramatic face.

"Let's put it that way. I can bump my head on the wall and I could bump my head on the table right now and it would definitely bruise up. I am a dramatic guy so it is nothing. It will be alright, it is just proof that I was here."

Vergara ran his hand along his forehead before noticing the dent and branding himself "dramatic" which was comically received by the media present at the press conference. The American star was a veteran under the Fury F.C. promotional banner and has a record of 10-3 in his MMA career.

Vergara rocked Rodrigues with a stiff shot before gaining his way into top position after his opponent shot a takedown to no avail. His style remained aggressive until the closing bell with two judges favouring his forward-thinking approach.

Those officials scored the fight 29-28 in favour of Vergara with the dissenting judge scoring it to Rodrigues by the same margin. Vergara admitted he told his coach he had lost the fight at the final bell after being disappointed with his overall performance.

"As soon as the fight was over I looked at my coach and said 'I lost that fight that is not the potential that I should be living up too'," he continued. "But as the minutes have passed I felt I had big moments in the fight.

"I felt my shots were the more damaging ones, my dominant positions were the more dominant ones but I have to go back and watch it again. Initially as soon as the fight was over I thought I had lost but that is just because that is the expectation that I set for myself."
