UFC star Paddy Pimblett pays fan £100 in 750 coins after losing bet

Paddy Pimblett paid a fan £100 in 750 coins after losing a wager in which he backed his beloved Liverpool to win the Premier League last season.

Pimblett has made a remarkable rise in the UFC and will take on his next test against Jared Gordon in a pay-per-view debut on December 10 in Las Vegas. The Merseyside star has been documenting his return to training camp on social media, and is currently training in his Liverpool, where he has been known to regularly attend football matches at Anfield.

Last year Pimblett made a bet with a fan that Liverpool would be crowned champions at the end of the 2021/22 Premier League season, while the fan instead backed Pep Guardiola's Manchester City. And it was indeed the fan who came out on top, with City retaining their title in dramatic fashion on the final day.

The Liverpudlian was messaged by the fan, which read: "You owe me a oner [£100] you scruff." Pimblett replied: "Lad I'll give you the oner when you come in and put some gloves on in the gym and I'll f***ing beat you up." The fan then ended the conversation: "Sound as long as I get my oner."

Pimblett has released a clip of the fan attending the gym and said: "I had a bet on Insta that Liverpool would win the league 18 months ago. They beat us by a point and he was in my requests. He's coming in today, his train gets into Liverpool Lime Street at 10am."

The UFC star is then shown touching the fan on the head before narrating: "Had a bet with this c*** last year. He said City and the cheating b******* financial fair played us out of the League." The fan then showed himself with a City shirt on while kissing the badge, before Pimblett jokingly bit the replica shirt.

He then emerged with several huge bags of coins and explained that he had counted out 500 10p coins and 200 20p coins to make the total. The fan laughed and the pair shared a joke before Pimblett posed for a picture and shouted: "This is the best bet I've ever had and I lost."

It was a close call for Pimblett with the two Premier League giants just one point apart going into the final day. Pep Guardiola's side went 2-0 down to Aston Villa before rallying to make a sensational comeback to win 3-2, with German midfielder Ilkay Gundogan slotting home from a trademark Kevin De Bruyne low cross to seal Liverpool's fate.

Pimblett will be disappointed with Liverpool's start to the latest Premier League season, with the Reds in sixth place having already lost four games. Jurgen Klopp's already find themselves off the pace in the title race, and sit 15 points behind leaders Arsenal going into the break for the World Cup.
