Conor McGregor has boasted about his chef after being told to "stick to cooking" in a fresh criticism of his UFC career.
McGregor has yet to return to the octagon since breaking his leg in a second consecutive defeat by Dustin Poirier last year. During his time away from the cage, the Irishman has feuded with several high-profile figures on social media including MMA manager Ali Abdelaziz who guided the career of his bitter rival Khabib Nurmagomedov.
Abdelaziz renewed his criticism of McGregor's career after the UFC star promoted his new Proper Twelve sauce, tweeting: "Stick to cooking because you’re not good at fighting anymore meat and potatoes." McGregor swiftly hit back: "I have a chef, silly." The Egyptian was Nurmagomedov's manager during the pair's chaotic 2018 clash.
Nurmagomedov defeated McGregor to retain his lightweight title before chaotic scenes unfolded with the teams of both fighters involved in a mass brawl. Before the fight McGregor had branded Abdelaziz a "terrorist snitch" which sparked huge animosity between the pair.
Abdelaziz also now manages McGregor's target opponent Kamaru Usman and has frequently expressed his criticism of the Irishman's career since his rivalry with Nurmagomedov began. The infamous manager recently dismissed McGregor's chances of securing a fresh title shot in his latest critique claiming he is now an Instagram fighter.
" Conor McGregor is, like I said to somebody else earlier today... he’s rehabbing his injury. Nobody cares about Conor McGregor," Abdelaziz told The Schmo. "He has not won a fight since [Barack] Obama was a president. He’s popular because he’s a Twitter fighter now. He’s an Instagram fighter. The last time he fought, did he show us he was worthy enough to fight for a UFC title?

"Listen to me. I understand the UFC business, but I know Dana White like the back of my hand. Dana White will never give Conor McGregor a title fight coming off three losses. I know him. And if he did, I’ll be f***ing shocked.”
McGregor is targeting a return to 170lb following a drastic increase in weight, showing off a new ripped physique following his injury. His last win in the UFC came in the welterweight division where he defeated Donald Cerrone in 2020 following a two-year hiatus.
He has confirmed his plans to challenge current champion Usman in a bid to become three-weight world champion. However it is widely expected that McGregor will accept a tune-up fight before challenging the Nigerian. Boxing legend Mike Tyson believes this would be the best plan to reap the rewards of his latest UFC comeback.
"Even if he wins, he’s gonna get hurt in the next fight and he can’t fight the next fight [after that],” Tyson said. "You get your experience down, three more fights, you feel good. I'm a strong believer that after a defeat you should do a couple of fights to get your feet wet. Conor, I think you should build your confidence up and go do what you do, win excitingly.”
