Former UFC interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in the early hours of Sunday morning, according to Robert J. Lopez of the Los Angeles Times.
The crash occurred in Hollywood when Ferguson’s Silverado crashed into at least two other vehicles and flipped over. Neither Ferguson nor any of his passengers reported injuries, a Los Angeles Police Department officer told the Times.
Ferguson was arrested after refusing to take a breathalyzer test at the scene. He’s reportedly facing a misdemeanor charge.
Ferguson, 39, most recently competed at a UFC event in September 2022, when he lost by submission to Nate Diaz at UFC 279 in Las Vegas. He’s lost his last five bouts, with his last win coming on June 8, 2019. He won the interim lightweight belt on Oct. 7, 2017, by defeating Kevin Lee at UFC 216.
Ferguson, whose career record is 25-8, has fought on the UFC circuit since 2011.
