UFC featherweight contender Chan Sung Jung had to shut down his gym after heavy rainfall flooded his facility in Seoul.
On Monday, record downpours washed the South Korean capital, killing at least eight people, according to CNN. Parts of the Seoul region had seen 16 inches of rain since midnight Monday, prompting the highest Level 3 emergency alert to go in effect. The city was hit by a record 141.5 millimeters (5.57 inches) of rain per hour, which is the highest rate since authorities began tracking that statistic.
Jung posted a jarring video on his Instagram of water levels rising in the street outside his gym, cascading all the way down a staircase and into his gym.
Jung posted an update on his Instagram story on Tuesday morning, which appeared to show he’d already begun cleanup.
Jung, 35, was last seen in action in April when he was stopped by featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 273. “The Korean Zombie” pondered retirement but appeared to walk back his decision after some thought.
Jung has recently been called out by featherweight contenders Bryce Mitchell, Giga Chikadze, Shane Burgos and Calvin Kattar.
