UFC on ESPN 49 bonuses: Another submission win for Mayra Bueno Silva gets an extra $50,000

The UFC handed out four post-fight bonuses after Saturday’s card, including one to the main event winner.

After UFC on ESPN 49, four fighters picked up an extra $50,000 for their performances in Las Vegas. Check out the winners below.

Performance of the Night: Francisco Prado

Francisco Prado

Francisco Prado def. Ottman Azaitar via TKO (elbow, punches) – Round 1, 4:05

Francisco Prado (12-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) tried a spinning back elbow once against Ottman Azaitar (13-2 MMA, 2-2 UFC), and it wasn’t quite there. But the second time he went to that well, he nailed it. Prado dropped Azaitar and was on him quickly on the canvas. After a few big elbows and punches, the 21-year-old Prado had his first UFC win.

Performance of the Night: Mayra Bueno Silva

Mayra Bueno Silva

Mayra Bueno Silva def. Holly Holm via submission (guillotine choke) – Round 2, 0:38

Mayra Bueno Silva (11-2-1 MMA, 6-2-1 UFC) picked up the biggest win of her career when she tapped out former women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm (15-7 MMA, 8-7 UFC) with a brutal standing guillotine choke early in the second round. With the 135-pound title currently vacant after Amanda Nunes’ recent retirement, Silva put herself in position to have a shot at the belt.

Fight of the Night: Jack Della Maddalena vs. Bassil Hafez

Jack Della Maddalena

Jack Della Maddalena def. Bassil Hafez via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)

Jack Della Maddalena (15-2 MMA, 5-0 UFC) got all he could handle from UFC newcomer Bassil Hafez (8-4-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC), who took the fight on just five days’ notice. Hafez took it to Maddalena early in the fight and took the first round. The third went Maddalena’s way, too, and he nearly got a finish. The fight came down to the second round, and two of the three judges went Maddalena’s way. But the back-and-forth nature of the bout, as well as the grit showed by Hafez in his debut, made it a slam dunk for Fight of the Night.
