UFC Legend, Chael Sonnen, has slammed the possible Conor McGregor vs Logan Paul boxing match, with reports suggesting a deal for $250 million is in the works.
UFC Legend Slams Possible Conor McGregor vs Logan Paul Bout
Logan Paul and Conor McGregor could face off in 2025, with suggestions over a bout in India slowly turning into genuine negotiations.
The Irish UFC star has only stepped foot in a boxing ring once, losing to Floyd Mayweather in one of the biggest fights of all time back in 2017 – while Paul has been involved in one amateur and two professional fights.
Logan Paul drew to KSI in his first appearance before losing via split decision in the rematch and the American beat Dillon Danis via DQ in his latest boxing match.
Paul and McGregor share a mutual opponent in Mayweather, as the internet star fought Money Mayweather in an exhibition bout in June 2021.
Reports suggest that both McGregor and Paul have been offered $250m each to fight in India, with the bout being funded by the Ambani family.
Nothing is concrete and former UFC fighter, Chael Sonnen, has given his thoughts on the prospect – being extremly skeptical about the idea.
Sonnen said:“There is no family that is willing to pay a quarter-billion dollars for that fight. There is no human that has a quarter-billion dollars that would put on a boxing match and the first thing he does is find two guys that don’t box.
“If you can’t contain information until it’s done, until a scheduled press conference where you release this to the world.
“Where is tickets? Where is distribution? More importantly when is the date, right? You don’t have a story until you have the five W’s: Who, what, when, where, and why. That doesn’t mean they can’t pull it off. This is the world’s dumbest idea.”
Logan Paul is not the only YouTube star that has been linked with a fight against McGregor, as Paul’s first opponent and now business partner with Prime Hydration, KSI, is also in the mix.
KSI has been far more active in the sport, boasting a professional record of 1-1 but winning ‘exhibition’ bouts against Swarms, Luis Pineda and Faze Temper.
The English internet star also fought a former WBA international light heavyweight champion, Joe Fournier, but this has gone down as a No Contest following an undetected elbow from KSI.
KSI’s last bout came in October 2023, losing to Tyson Fury’s brother and Love Island star, Tommy Fury, who has also beat Logan Paul’s brother, Jake Paul.
