A lightweight bout is near finalization for the first UFC fight card in August.
At a UFC Fight Night event Aug. 5, lightweights Ignacio Bahamondes and Ludovit Klein will collide. While not formally announced, the card is expected to take place in Nashville, Tenn.
Two people with knowledge of the booking recently informed MMA Junkie that bout agreements have been issued and are expected to be signed in the coming days. The people asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement.
Bahamondes (14-4 MMA, 3-1 UFC) rides the wave of momentum from a three-fight winning streak into the matchup. Victories in the stretch include Roosevelt Roberts, Zhu Rong, and most recently, Trey Ogden in April.
Klein (19-4-1 MMA, 3-2 UFC) was expected to fight Jim Miller at UFC on ESPN 45 on June 3, but withdrew due to an illness. He enters the bout 2-0-1 in his most recent three outings with wins over Mason Jones and Devonte Smith during that stretch.
With the addition, the UFC Fight Night lineup for Aug. 5 includes:
- Tatiana Suarez vs. Virna Jandiroba
- Asu Almabaev vs. Ode Osbourne
- Jake Hadley vs. Tagir Ulanbekov
- Said Nurmagomedov vs. Kyler Phillips
- Damon Jackson vs. Billy Quarantillo
- Tanner Boser vs. Aleksa Camur
- Dustin Jacoby vs. Kennedy Nzechukwu
- Ignacio Bahamondes vs. Ludovit Klein
