UFC Fight Night 236 play-by-play and live results

LAS VEGAS – UFC Fight Night 236 took place Saturday at the UFC Apex.

In the main event, Jack Hermansson (24-8 MMA, 11-6 UFC) defeated Joe Pyfer (12-3 MMA, 3-1 UFC) at middleweight. In the co-feature, Andre Fili (23-11 MMA, 11-10 UFC) suffered a KO loss to Dan Ige (18-7 MMA, 10-6 UFC) at featherweight.

Hyder Amil vs. Fernie Garcia

Round 1 – Amil comes out agressive here. He;s doinga good job walking down Garcia. Oh! Amil drops Garcia with a left. Amil all over him trying to finish the fight. Now Garcia gets back up. Oh! Garcia wobbles Amil. Amil seems to recover quickly. He hurts Garcia again! Amil jumps on Garcia and takes his back. Good reversal by Garcia! He’s now on top. What a crazy fight. Garcia now takes the back of Amil! Fun first round, so far! One minute left. Amil reverses the position now and begins ground and pound while takeing the back. Amil landing shots from top while standing! Nasty knee to the body. The bell rings.

Max Griffin vs. Jeremiah Wells

Round 1 – Wells attempts a couple of spinning attacks. Both so far very tentative. Clean jab by Griffin. Clean combo by Griffin. So far, he’s looking like the more disciplined striker. Griffin is cautiously and steadily pressing Wells. Two minutes left. Very low activity. Jab by Wells. Oh! Big left by Wells and then he takes down Griffin. Griffin immediately back up, but now he’s being pressed against the cage. Back to striking. Oh! Wild shots from both! It looks like Griffin clipped Wells. Wells backing up now. They scramble and Griffin ends on top. The bell rings.

Round 2 – Both very tentative again. Oh! Wells counters with a big shot and puts Griffin on skates. Wells closes the distance and presses Griffin against the cage. They’re back to striking. Armen Petrosyan vs. Rodolfo Vieira

Round 1 – Petrosyan takes the middle of the octagon to open the fight and starts working behind his jab. Vieira is circling from the outside with his guard high and picking his shots. They trade leg kicks and both men are cautious on the feet.Vieira shoots his first takedown with three minutes remaining, but Petrosyan pops back up. Vieira takes him down again and is trying to advance to the back. Petrosyan tries to scramble but Vieira scoops him up and slams him to the mat. Vieira is working from half guard near the fence. He locks in an arm-triangle choke and squeezes in the final seconds. Petrosyan taps briefly and the referee stops it, but he pops up immediately and protests.

Darrius Flowers vs. Michael Johnson
