The UFC handed out four post-fight bonuses after Saturday’s card, including a sub-minute finish in the main event.
After UFC Fight Night 229, four fighters picked up an extra $50,000 for their performances in Las Vegas. Check out the winners below.
'Performance of the Night': Nate Maness
Nate Maness used his opponent’s aggression against him score a first-round finish. Mateus Mendonca was relentlessly attacking leg submissions throughout the opening frame. Unfortunately for him, Maness was able to defend the attacks well, and landed devastating punches that led to an early finish. Maness has fought six times under the UFC banner and earned a bonus in half of those bouts.
'Performance of the Night': Drew Dober
Drew Dober made history with his performance against Ricky Glenn. Entering the main card contest tied with Dustin Poirier for the most knockouts at lightweight, Dober separated himself by putting the finishing touches on Glenn midway through the first round. Not only did Dober set a record, but he also takes home a $50,000 bonus for his fantastic finish.
'Performance of the Night': Joe Pyfer
“Be Joe Pyfer” is the catchphrase coined by UFC CEO Dana White after seeing his aggressive display at Dana White’s Contender Series last June. Fast forward three fights later, and Pyfer is in a co-main event putting his opponent Abdul Razak Alhassan to sleep with an arm triangle submission. Three fights, three finishes, and now two Performance of the Night bonuses. “Be Joe Pyfer,” indeed.
'Performance of the Night': Bobby Green
Bobby Green said he had no idea who Grant Dawson was before he signed to fight him in the main event of UFC Fight Night 229. He did do his research, but Green didn’t get much first-hand experience against Dawson as he landed a knockout left hand in just 33 seconds. Green loves to fight for money, and he secured his eighth fight night bonus with his fast finish on the main event stage.
