The UFC handed out six post-fight bonuses after Saturday’s card – one to each fighter who got a stoppage win.
After UFC Fight Night 220, six fighters picked up an extra $50,000 for their performances in Las Vegas. Check out the winners below.
Performance of the Night: Joe Solecki
Joe Solecki def. Carl Deaton via technical submission (rear-naked choke) – Round 2, 4:55
Joe Solecki (13-3 MMA, 5-1 UFC) took out short-notice replacement Carl Deaton (17-6 MMA, 0-1 UFC) with a second-round rear-naked choke. It was Solecki’s eighth career submission, most of which have been with that same choke.
Performance of the Night: Jordan Leavitt
Jordan Leavitt def. Victor Martinez via knockout (knees, punches) – Round 1, 2:33
Jordan Leavitt (11-2 MMA, 4-2 UFC) did something he’s never done before: He stopped an opponent with strikes. Victor Martinez (13-5 MMA, 0-1 UFC) was on the receiving end of just the second knockout of Leavitt’s career. The first came with a 20-second slam, so Leavitt was elated on the microphone after his win with the new feeling of what it’s like to put someone out a different way.
Performance of the Night: Trevor Peek
Trevor Peek def. Erick Gonzalez via knockout (punches) – Round 1, 4:59
Trevor Peek (8-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) closed out his first round against Erick Gonzalez (14-8 MMA, 0-3 UFC) like he was late for an appointment. Late in the round, he punished Gonzalez over and over and finally, mercifully for Gonzalez, got the finish with one second left in the round. It frankly could have come much sooner.
Performance of the Night: Mike Malott
Mike Malott def. Yohan Lainesse via submission (arm-triangle choke) – Round 1, 4:15
Mike Malott (9-1-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) opened up the main card against fellow Canadian Yohan Lainesse (9-2 MMA, 1-2 UFC), and he kept his streak intact: All nine of his wins have been first-round stoppages.
Performance of the Night: Tatiana Suarez
Tatiana Suarez def. Montana De La Rosa via submission (guillotine choke) – Round 2, 2:51
Tatiana Suarez (9-0 MMA, 6-0 UFC) pulled off an all-time great career comeback when she submitted Montana De La Rosa (12-8-1 MMA, 5-4-1 UFC) in the second round. Suarez, an “Ultimate Fighter” winner, was on the sidelines for nearly four years with injuries and recoveries.
Fight of the Night: Brendan Allen
Brendan Allen def. Andre Muniz via submission (rear-naked choke) – Round 3, 4:25
Brendan Allen (21-5 MMA, 9-2 UFC) and Andre Muniz (23-5 MMA, 5-1 UFC) had their fight elevated to main event status when Nikita Krylov was pulled from his headliner against Ryan Spann hours before the fight. Allen didn’t disappoint with a third-round upset submission.
