Ignacio Bahamondes left a lasting impression to cap off the preliminary card of UFC Fight Night 202.
In a complete and dominant performance, Bahamondes (13-4 MMA, 2-1 UFC) brought his best against Rong Zhu (18-5 MMA, 1-2 UFC), overwhelming his opponent with a high-volume striking performance early, up to his third-round submission finish.
The fight was largely spent on the feet, with Bahomondes using his long reach effectively to repeatedly land strikes on Rong, who could not figure out how to slow the offensive attack of his 24-year-old lightweight opponent.
The fight reached the third round where out of nowhere, Bahamondes found an opportunity to jump on a guillotine choke and locked it in tight. Moments later, Rong was forced to tap.

The submission finished marked the first of Bahamondes’ 17-fight professional career. The Dana White’s Contender Series veteran entered the UFC after a front kick finish of Edson Gomez in his 2020 appearance. His first win with the promotion was against Roosevelt Roberts, a fight he ended by spectacular wheel kick that earned a Performance of the Night bonus.
