Fans have hit out at Conor McGregor after he claimed his UFC career was "easy work" in a post hinting at his retirement.
McGregor is plotting a return to the octagon after breaking his leg against Dustin Poirier last July, and has made a return to training, but doubts have been cast over his comeback in recent weeks as he continues to holiday and spend time on his plush yacht.
Recently McGregor offered a fresh retirement hint, tweeting: "MMA, I’ll never forget you! Easy work." However fans have reacted poorly to McGregor's claim, with one commenting: "Not sure about it being that easy for you in recent years - you’ve only won one out of your four fights in the octagon since October 2018."
Another added: "'Easy work' is big talk for somebody who hasn't won a fight since Obama could say 'I am the president of the United States' outside of Old-Man Cerrone." One fan agreed: "Who cares, never defended a belt and wouldn't beat the top six in the lightweight division or even Volkanovski at featherweight, irrelevant in MMA."
One fan even turned on McGregor: "Love you bro, but how about winning a fight for once?" Another fan placed the blame on McGregor's rival Khabib Nurmagomedov: "Damn Khabib made you change careers. So sad to see. That mauling from Khabib made you realise you aren’t built for MMA so you decided to go into Hollywood instead and become an actor. You are the male version of Ronda Rousey. Whooped into changing careers."
A final fan defended McGregor: "The best to ever do it! Excluding nobody! Supposed to be No.1 on everybody's list! Let’s see what happens when he no longer exists……. Thank you sir for all the memories and all the inspiration! I’m Team Mac through and through. Whether it’s MMA, Boxing or Hollywood, got your back!"

The news came after McGregor announced the news that he would feature in a Hollywood remake of Road House alongside actor Jake Gyllenhaal. McGregor has had a sensational career in the UFC having become the first man to hold two belts simultaneously in the promotion's history.
However his form has dipped recently having just one win over Donald Cerrone to his name since his previous UFC win over Eddie Alvarez. McGregor's former rival Max Holloway has admitted he would not be surprised if the Irishman retires after his decline in form.
"With all this Conor talk and saying whatever, he never committed to coming back,” Holloway told ESPN. “He never once said he’d come back. And rightfully so, he shouldn’t. Conor is what everyone wants to be. Everyone wants to get in this fight game, make the money, and then save your chickens. I wouldn’t even blame him if he didn’t want to come back. If you want to come back, that’s his competitive side straight doing it. We’ll see what happens. All respect to him.”
