UFC 314 results: Jean Silva finishes Bryce Mitchell with nasty ninja choke

Jean Silva beat Bryce Mitchell – and he did so in his own world.

On the UFC 314 main card, Silva (16-2 MMA, 5-0 UFC) tapped Mitchell (17-3 MMA, 8-3 UFC) with a ninja choke at Kaseya Center in Miami. The stoppage came at 3:52 of Round 2.

Silva looked supremely comfortable in the biggest fight of his life and had the crowd heavily on his side, barking along with him at will. Although his showboating, pointing aand look-offs were fun, it was his striking, takedown defense, and offensive submission game that got the job done.

Silva attempted a guillotine choke in Round 1 that looked tight, but Mitchell escaped. However, Mitchell couldn’t escape the ninja choke Silva wrapped up quickly in Round 2.

After the win, Silva stood over Mitchell and screamed at him. The two did not seem to like each other in the build-up. The highly-anticipated bout was magnified by comments made by Mitchell days prior to the matchup’s booking in which the Arkansas-based UFC contender praised Adolf Hitler.

“I really do think before Hitler got on meth, he was a guy I’d go fishing with,” Mitchell said. “He fought for his country. He wanted to purify it by kicking the greedy Jews out, that were destroying his country and turning them all into gays. They were gaying out the kids. They were queering out the women. They were queering out the dudes.”

Mitchell later released a statement saying he is not a Nazi.

With the win, the Fighting Nerds keep rolling. Silva, along with teammates Caio Borralho, Carlos Prates, and Mauricio Ruffy, all continue marching toward UFC gold under coaches Pablo Sucupira and Flavio Alvaro.

Mitchell moves to 1-2 in his most recent three outings.
