Merab Dvalishvili ended the undefeated run of Umar Nurmagomedov for his first bantamweight title defense on Saturday at UFC 311.
Entering as the betting underdog, Dvalishvili (19-4 MMA, 12-2 UFC) pulled off the METHOD upset over Nurmagomedov (18-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC) to retain his 135-pound belt and extend his winning streak to 12 consecutive fights in the co-main event at Intuit Dome in Inglewood, Calif.

Crazy close R1. I’ll go Merab 1-0

10-9 Nurmagomedov.
Dvalishvili is playing a dangerous game thus far by standing in front of Nurmagomedov and engaging in a striking contest.

How has Merab just completely abandoned his 100 takedowns per fight recently?! Seems like madness.

Looks like Merab is chewing gum in the octagon. Not sure if there’s a jaw issue or what’s going on there. #ufc311

If Merab can’t land a takedown, can he find a way to win? #UFC311

20-18 Umar Nurmagomedov after R2
That damage to the nose is pretty clearly bothering Merab. #UFC311

Merab may be having fun in there, but he’s having fun while losing this fight. Pack in the taunts and focus on keeping that title. #UFC311

Merab got three takedowns, his stamina is unreal. But he showboated way too much. 29-28 Nurmagomedov after three rounds.

Umar-Merab already deserving of a rematch regardless of result. Great fight #UFC311
