Shavkat Rakhmonov emerged from the battle of unbeaten welterweight contender against Ian Machado Garry on Saturday at UFC 310.
Rakhmonov (19-0 MMA, 7-0 UFC) kept his perfect streak alive at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas with a unanimous decision win over Machado Garry (15-1 MMA, 8-1 UFC) that set him up as the No. 1 contender for champion Belal Muhammad.
Muhammad (24-3 MMA, 15-3 UFC) was originally supposed to defend against Rakhmonov at UFC 310 before a foot infection removed him from the fight. That allowed Machado Garry to step in, and he delivered a performance that tested Rakhmonov’s game more so than ever before.
There was much to digest from the contest, which saw Rakhmonov and Machado Garry go five rounds for the first time in the octagon and push each other. How will a title fight between Muhammad and Rakhmonov go? What’s Machado Garry’s potential going forward?
