PERTH, Australia – Everything is in line for one of the biggest middleweight title fights in recent history after Dricus Du Plessis and Israel Adesanya made weight for the UFC 305 main event.
The long-awaited grudge match between Du Plessis (21-2 MMA, 7-0 UFC) and Adesanya (24-3 MMA, 13-3 UFC) is one step closer to reality after both men hit the divisional limit at Friday’s official weigh-in at the UFC host hotel.
Reigning titleholder Du Plessis, who will attempt to make his first defense after claiming the belt from Sean Strickland at UFC 297 in January, stepped on the scale at 185 pounds. Former two-time champion Adesanya, meanwhile, registered at 184 pounds as he looks to attempt a historic third divisional reign.
