NEW YORK – The stage is set for Jiri Prochazka and Alex Pereira to determine a new light heavyweight champion at UFC 295 following Friday’s ceremonial weigh-ins.
After making weight earlier in the day, Prochazka (29-3-1 MMA, 3-0 UFC) and Pereira (8-2 MMA, 5-1 UFC) posed for fans, media and the camera before engaging in one final staredown before sharing the octagon in the headlining act of Saturday’s card at Madison Square Garden.
The 205-pound belt has been passed around to multiple fighters in recent years, including Prochazka who vacated it in November 2022 due to injury. He will attempt to resume his reign, while turning back former middleweight champion Pereira, who looks to become the 10th fighter in UFC history to earn two divisional titles win his a single career.
