UFC 289: How to watch Nunes vs. Aldana, start time, fight card, odds

The UFC returns to pay-per-view Saturday with UFC 289 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, with a title fight atop the card.

Here’s how to watch UFC 289, where the women’s bantamweight championship is up for grabs.

Broadcast and streaming info

UFC 289 has a main card that begins at 10 p.m. ET and streams on ESPN+ pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN and ESPN+ beginning at 8 p.m. ET. Early prelims on ESPN+ are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. ET.

Main event

Amanda Nunes

The UFC 289 main event features the return of Amanda Nunes, the woman widely considered to be the greatest female fighter of all time. Nunes (22-5 MMA, 15-2 UFC), 35, who also holds the women’s featherweight title, is kicking off her second reign as bantamweight champion after reclaiming the belt with a lopsided unanimous decision win over Julianna Peña in their rematch. Saturday was set to host the trilogy, but Peña was forced to withdraw several weeks ago. Instead, Irene Aldana (14-6 MMA, 7-4 UFC) is getting the first UFC title shot of her career. The 35-year-old Mexican fighter has won four of her past five fights, including most recently back-to-back victories over Yana Santos (first-round TKO) and Macy Chiasson (third-round knockout).

Co-main event

The UFC 289 co-main event is a pivotal lightweight showdown between former champion Charles Oliveira, in his first action since losing the title, against top contender Beneil Dariush, who’s been knocking on the door of a title shot for quite some time as he’s on an eight-fight winning streak. This fight originally was set to take place last month at UFC 288, but it was postponed after Oliveira was forced to withdraw. The last time both men competed was on Oct. 22 of last year at UFC 280 in Abu Dhabi. On that night, Oliveira (33-9 MMA, 21-9 UFC) was submitted by Islam Makhachev in his third title defense, while Dariush (22-4-1 MMA, 16-4-1 UFC) won a unanimous decision against Mateusz Gamrot.
