Usman, No. 1 in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMA Junkie pound-for-pound rankings outworked No. 3-ranked welterweight Edwards to a unanimous decision in their first encounter at UFC on FOX 17 in December 2015. Both men have gone undefeated since.
The rematch will see Usman (20-1 MMA, 15-0 UFC) attempt to make a fifth consecutive defense of the 170-pound strap, while Edwards (18-3 MMA, 10-2 UFC) looks to become the second British titleholder in company history.
UFC 278 takes place Saturday at Vivant Arena. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN/ABC and ESPN+.
