The University of California, Los Angeles, has announced that it will return to regular operations starting Monday and intends to maintain this status throughout the week. Faculty members are encouraged to resume in-person instruction promptly, although they have the option to continue conducting courses remotely until next Friday, May 10, without requiring departmental approval. Students will receive direct communication from their instructors regarding the mode of instruction.
Exams at the law school will proceed as scheduled, and the university's extension program will also resume in-person activities. Last week, UCLA had canceled classes in response to a night of violence where pro-Palestinian protesters were subjected to attacks by masked individuals for an extended period without police intervention.
Officials have advised students, faculty, and staff to steer clear of the Royce Quad area, located between Royce Hall and the Powell Library, while repairs are ongoing. A law enforcement presence will be maintained around the campus to enhance safety measures.
