UCLA Star Guard Declares for NBA Draft

UCLA is set to lose another key leader to the NBA.

Star point guard Tyger Campbell announced on Wednesday night that he is declaring for the 2023 NBA draft. Campbell is set to depart for the pros after four seasons with the Bruins, during which he made three All-Pac-12 teams and played in three NCAA tournaments.

The 23-year-old shared his draft announcement via a post on Instagram, which included a heartfelt message.

“It’s hard for me to describe how special my time at UCLA has been. But this has been an incredible ride. It has been an absolute honor to wear the four letters across my chest and be part of this program for five years. I’d especially like to thank Coach Cronin and our coaching staff for their trust and belief in me in the past four seasons,” Campbell said, in part.

Campbell is the third UCLA star to declare for the upcoming NBA draft, joining the likes of Jaylen Clark and Jaime Jaquez Jr.

The redshirt senior featured in 37 games for the Bruins in the 2022-23 season, averaging a career-high 13.9 points per game. His field goal percentage dipped from 44.4% in 2021-22 to 37.8% this past season, though he attempted an average of 2.8 more shots per game this year.

Now, he’ll look to latch on with an NBA franchise.
