UCLA Chancellor has announced an investigation into a recent incident where a 'group of instigators' violently attacked an anti-Israel encampment on the school's campus. The Chancellor has appointed the inaugural associated vice chancellor and chief safety officer to lead the investigation with the aim of identifying the perpetrators of the violence and holding them accountable.
The LAPD has also assigned a detective to assist UCLA in their investigative efforts. LA County District Attorney George Gascón has pledged to prosecute the instigators to the fullest extent of the law. The Chancellor described the attack as a 'truly despicable act' and emphasized the university's commitment to finding those responsible and ensuring justice is served.
UCLA is currently reviewing all available footage of the incident and urging witnesses who witnessed the violence firsthand to come forward and report their accounts. Additionally, the university is conducting a broader assessment of all acts of violence that have occurred over the past 12 days, including those targeting counter-protestors.
