What’s the most you’ve ever been charged for an Uber ride? Likely not as much as this guy.

Andrew Peters caught a ride using the transportation service platform from Dulles International Airport, but the car soon got stuck in a storm for hours.

With icy roads and an abundance of traffic, the bill for the nine-hour journey resulted in the jaw-dropping amount of $600.

Both the Richmond man, who was returning from San Francisco, and the Uber driver, were unaware of the concerning weather when they began their ride together.

“It was kind of scary,” Peters said. “We didn’t have any food or water.”

While he initially was hit with a $200 Uber bill, Peters said that he was later charged an extra $400, raising his bill to $600 in total.

“I’m still trying to find somebody to talk to understand why they feel like they could charge me this,” said Peters.

According to Uber’s website, “heavy traffic may cause your trip to take longer than expected and to compensate your driver for the additional time, your fare may change.”

Peters said he has disputed the additional charge.

Luckily for the passenger, it looks as though he will be getting his money back.

In a statement sent to The Associated Press, Uber said, “We have refunded Mr. Peters after this terrible ordeal and are so glad that he and his Uber driver got home safely,” and confirmed the driver’s pay would not be affected either.

Elsewhere in the US, thousands of people had a similar terrible experience on Interstate 95 in Virginia and were left with no food or water for hours. Police said that the road became impassable when tractor-trailers jackknifed in a winter storm.
