Uber offers horse-drawn carriages for coronation at Dulwich Park

Uber has created a coronation carriage to give people a ride like no other as King Charles III is crowned.

The private hire firm will give rides in a horse-drawn carriage in Dulwich Park on May 3, 4 and 5 in the lead-up to the ceremony on May 6.

Bookings can be made in person at Carriage Drive in Dulwich Park for rides between 1pm and 4pm.

Andrew Brem, general manager at Uber UK, said: “What better way to celebrate one of the most significant events of 2023 by riding like King Charles III in a horse-drawn carriage?.

“We’re always looking for new ways to add a little Uber magic to people's journeys, so we are over the moon to be able to bring the Coronation Carriage to Uber.”

The firm said it made the move after research found 41 per cent of Brits would like the chance to go in a horse-drawn carriage.

All carriages will be pulled by four white horses dressed up in coronation wear while the rides will have plush seats and embroidered cushions.

Uber has not said how much the rides will cost. However, it said the announcement of the coronation carriage followed research that showed that 51 per cent of Brits will be celebrating the coronation, while almost a third plan to be in London during the week of the coronation.‌

King Charles III will be crowned at 11am on May 6 at Westminster Abbey and a coronation concert will be held at Windsor Castle the following evening.

The company is broadening its offering with the introduction of Uber Boats and deals to promote National Rail journeys, Eurostar, coaches and car rentals.

The statement added: “Following the experience, Uber will be making a donation to Spana, a UK-based charity that is focused on supporting the welfare of working animals across the world.”
