Look, getting to the Australian Open can be a total pain. Traffic’s a nightmare, parking costs more than the tickets, and let’s be real, nobody wants to start their epic tennis day stressed out.
Thankfully, Uber and Kia are about to make your Australian Open experience way smoother, offering free rides to and from the tennis precinct starting this Sunday.
From January 12-26, they’re offering completely free rides to and from the tennis precinct for Uber One members. And we’re not talking about some beat-up old Corolla — we’re talking a fleet of 50 slick Kia EVs, aka electric vehicles that look like they’ve driven straight out of a sci-fi movie.
The deal? If you’re an Uber One member within 8km of Melbourne Park, you can grab a Kia EV6, EV9, or EV5 completely free. Rides are available between 9am and 10pm, with a $100 daily cap, subject to availability. For a public transport girly this is basically like winning the lottery.
It’s their third year running this program and let me tell you it has saved me some serious cashola.
“With Kia’s support in 2024, we were able to help thousands of Uber One members move around Melbourne, but we’re optimistic that this year, with a sixty percent larger EV fleet we will be able to double the amount of emissions-free kilometres travelled, and double the amount of Uber One members that are able to claim a free ride,” said Kia Australia, CEO Damien Meredith.
To take advantage of this sweet deal you just have to select the tennis precinct on your Uber App, and look for the ‘Kia Electric’ option. Easy as!
In the mean time, if you’re an Aus Open newbie, here’s everything you need to know to become a tennis (commentator) pro!
