'Uber Eats won't refund me for ruined pizza – they say I've made too many complaints'

Ordering through a delivery service can sometimes be a little hit-and-miss. Often, the food will come and be piping hot, and will really hit the spot. But sometimes it can show up and look less than appetising, and will make you feel as though you've got no choice but to complain about the poor food and service you've received.

But what happens if the app you're complaining to deems that you've complained "too many times"? That exact thing happened to one man who was left seething after his pizza arrived looking inedible, with someone joking that it was a "slam on your brakes special."

The man was left less than impressed with the pizza - but Uber Eats wouldn't do anything about it (u/bradley322)

The horrified man took to Reddit's 'Uber Eats' community to write: "Our pizza came completely ruined, had to throw it out. Had to speak to multiple customer service reps to get an answer as to why they wouldn't give me a refund. The in-app 'help' service is all unhelpful automated responses.

"Get this: the reason they couldn't refund me was because of a restriction on my account due to 'too many complaints'.

"I've had multiple instances of late deliveries or damaged food similar to the picture. I always provided proof and (in my opinion) made very reasonable requests.

"Now, because they messed up too many times, I can't get a refund for this damaged pile of what was once a pizza?! Ridiculous.

"The whole customer service experience was exasperating and so unhelpful. I got so frustrated that I just cancelled my Uber One subscription. I don't plan to order through them again. Can't believe they're willing to lose customers over small disputes like this."

The pizza looked seriously messy, with the majority of the topping moved into the side of the box, rather than on the doughy base.

In the comments, people were horrified at the state of the food that had arrived, wondering why he should have to pay for it.

"That's ridiculous", someone fumed, suggesting that they use a different app in the future.

Another wrote: "Did a biker or moped deliver it? I deliver by bike and I've been doing pizzas for a few years and never damaged one yet. Some people don't have the common sense to keep the pizza leveled. But these guys get desperate and throw out logic, knowing they can't deliver it in a good manner."

A Redditor waded in, commenting: "I think they should have at least given you credits. That being said, why would you throw that out? A knife and fork work fine, spread that cheese and toppings back on, and your stomach doesn't know the difference."

The Mirror contacted Uber Eats for comment, and they replied: "This order clearly wasn't up to our usual high standards so we have apologised to the customer and will be providing a full refund."

What would you do in this situation? Let us know in the comments.
