Uber driver says he nearly died as Range Rover smashed onto railway track in horror crash

An Uber driver narrowly dodged death after a Range Rover hurtled past him and crashed onto a railway line.

Nawaf Ali, 40, saw the shocking incident take place at the Tesla Centre car park on the A40 in west London yesterday.

A woman in her 20s died after the 4x4 she was travelling in veered across the road, smashed through the car park and landed on the Piccadilly Line.

A man in his 50s, who was parked metres away from Nawaf, was injured when the Range Rover crashed into his Tesla before landing on the tracks.

Nawaf had planned to park his own Tesla alongside the stationary car that was hit by the 4x4 but decided to move to a bay a few metres away instead.

The dad-of-two told Mail Online: "I could have died last night, and my kids would not have a father.

"Where I was standing was where the car came over the barrier... It was so loud. I ducked my head down and this car came flying over the metal barrier. The noise was incredible, but then it was silent.

"If I had been standing a few feet away then I would have been hit. I am still shaking thinking about it."

Nawaf said ambulance control asked him to check on the woman to see if she was still breathing, however he discovered she was not.

He added that he still "can't get the picture of her" out of his head.

The Uber driver had stopped off at the Tesla centre to charge his vehicle before returning to his home in Harrow.

The male driver of the Range Rover is now in a critical condition and another female passenger is being treated for non life-threatening injuries.

The A40 was closed and train services on the Piccadilly tube line have been suspended following the smash.

Residents living near Park Royal station said they heard a huge bang when the crash took place yesterday.

Andrew Wood, who lives in a block of flats next to the station, said: "It woke me up. I heard this huge bash at about half past three. I thought it was somebody breaking into one of the garages.

"The car must have smashed the fence, because behind that is the pedestrian walkway and it's come right over that. Ten minutes after there were helicopters, it was like the Third World War."

Nada Alobaidi, 31, who also lives next to the station, said: "I heard a big crash. I came outside and saw a lot of police and an ambulance as well.

"There was a lot of smoke. I didn't see the car because it was during the night.

"The A40 can be quite dangerous around Park Royal Station. Car accidents do sometimes happen."
