U.S. Scores Wild Goal to Cut Netherlands Lead at World Cup

It took a while, but the USMNT finally broke through vs. the Netherlands on Saturday morning. After the Dutch initially cleared a corner kick, Christian Pulisic found the ball and sent the ball in front of the goal, seemingly hitting the back of Haji Wright’s foot.

It took a weird bounce, but it favored the Americans. The score gave the USMNT life after the team was down 2-0 entering halftime.

Wright missed a chance at a score earlier that led to the corner kick, but he was in the right place at the right time to get the USMNT on the board. And, of course, it all started because of Pulisic.

Just five minutes later, the Netherlands answered on a Denzel Dumfries goal to push the team’s lead back to 3–1.
