The U.S. military-built pier in Gaza has been reattached and is operational once again after being detached for the second time due to rough seas, as confirmed by Cyprus officials. The pier serves as a crucial entry point for delivering humanitarian aid, including supplies from the U.N.'s World Food Program, into Gaza. Despite facing setbacks since its erection, including being blown apart by high winds in May, the pier is now back in service.

Cyprus has played a significant role in the operation of the pier, with a security and inspection station it built to screen international aid destined for Gaza. Over the past 40 days, Cyprus has screened and loaded around 10,000 tons of aid onto boats bound for Gaza. The recent detachment of the causeway by the U.S. military was a preventive measure to avoid further damage caused by adverse weather conditions.

EU Warns Against Threats to Cyprus from Hezbollah

The European Union has strongly condemned any threats made against Cyprus, emphasizing that an attack on Cyprus is considered an attack on all 27 EU member nations. The EU has expressed full support for Cyprus amid recent tensions, particularly in response to threats made by Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah regarding the use of Cypriot ports and airports by Israel.

Hezbollah Reports Casualties from Israeli Strikes in Lebanon

Hezbollah has confirmed that at least three of its fighters were killed in Israeli strikes in Lebanon. The ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah has intensified in recent weeks, with both sides exchanging fire along the border.

The situation remains volatile, with fears of a broader regional conflict looming. Efforts are being made by international stakeholders, including the U.S., to prevent further escalation and mitigate the impact of the hostilities on civilian populations.
