The U.S. men's 4x100 relay team faced a disappointing disqualification from the event after a crucial error during the first handoff in the race. The disqualification came as Christian Coleman passed the baton to Kenny Bednarek outside of the designated exchange zone, leading to their elimination from the competition.

Notably, the U.S. men's relay team has a history of struggling with relay handoffs, and this latest mishap added to their unfortunate track record in this aspect of the sport.

Following the botched handoff, the team comprising Coleman, Bednarek, Kyree King, and Fred Kerley finished the race in seventh place. The mistake during the handoff proved costly as it caused them to fall behind early in the race, and they were unable to make up for the lost ground, ultimately finishing outside of medal contention.

On the podium, it was Canada that claimed the gold medal with a time of 37.50, showcasing a strong performance in the relay event. South Africa secured the silver medal with a time of 37.57, while Great Britain rounded out the top three, earning the bronze with a time of 37.61.
