Tyson Fury's look at the weigh-in for his fight with Dillian Whyte next week will "shock" fans, according to his nutritionist.
The world heavyweight champion famously sports a less than impressive physique, but has managed to remains undefeated in his 32 professional fights and establish himself as one of the great heavyweights of his era. And now his nutritionist George Lockhart has promised that he will stun fans when he hits the scales on Friday week.
Lockhart, who has worked with the likes of Conor McGregor and a host of other world champions in the past, has been working closely to get Fury's nutrition perfect for the bout against Whyte. The giant heavyweight struggled in camp for his trilogy with Deontay Wilder due to family issues, but was still able to land a major knockout and retain his belt.
"I will tell you at the weigh-in there’s going to be a shock," Lockhart said in a recent interview with Sportsmail. "People are going to be shocked at the weigh-in. People will be like, 'holy crap'. You won’t even have to see the number on the scale. When you see him, you’ll know exactly what he’s been doing this whole time."
Fans generally aren't drawn to weigh-ins, particularly when it comes to heavyweights, who can weigh whatever they want above 201lb. But Fury always has an air of intrigue after fluctuating for his last few bouts, and declaring that at some point he would like to tip the scales at over 300lb for a fight.
He weighed in at 277lb for his trilogy with Wilder, after tipping the scales at 273lb for their rematch. It was the heaviest he had allowed himself to get since his staggering weight loss and comeback in 2018, and a whopping 21lb more than their first fight, when he outboxed the American en route to a draw.
Since teaming up with SugarHill Steward for the Wilder rematch in 2020, Fury has decided to put more focus on his size and power as he adopts the Kronk Gym style. Under Ben Davison for their first meeting, and most of his comeback, Fury was more interested in being quick and moving, hoping to prove too skilful and quick for fellow heavyweights.

But Lockhart remained cryptic on what exactly the shock would be, adding: "I won’t tell you the details, but losing 30lbs in 30 days, he’s done that before. There’s a reason I’ve been out here for almost four months. I’ll leave it at that."
Fury has vowed to enter the ring as a 'man mountain' after selling out 94,000 tickets at Wembley Stadium for his homecoming fight. He hasn't been back in the UK for a bout since August of 2018 when he took on a warm-up fight on the undercard of Carl Frampton vs Luke Jackson in Belfast.
"For the biggest fight and the biggest crowd, you’re going to see the biggest Tyson Fury," he told reporters at a press conference last month. "I’m going to come in like a man mountain."
