Tyson Fury is targeting a fight with UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou for early next year.
The rivals have repeatedly called each other out in recent weeks for a crossover fight in a boxing ring.
Fury proposed a boxing fight with MMA gloves while Ngannou countered by offering Fury an MMA fight with boxing gloves.
Neither fighter is currently in a position to accept the bout with Fury preparing for the second defence of his world title against Dillian Whyte.
The fight is expected to take place at Wembley on April 23 - as long as Whyte signs his contract by this weekend.
Fury is then likely to target the winner of Anthony Joshua's rematch with Oleksandr Usyk which is due to take place in May.
That fight would crown the first undisputed heavyweight world champion since Lennox Lewis in 1999 and leave Fury free to pursue a clash with Ngannou in 2023.
Ngannou, meanwhile, is preparing to go under the knife after suffering a knee injury before his title defence against Ciryl Gane last month.
The Cameroonian battled through the pain barrier to out-point his former sparring partner in what was the final fight of his UFC contract.
Ngannou is expected to be out of action for the rest of the year which would then leave him free to walk away from the promotion.
And Fury confirmed that timeline for any potential showdown.
"I am going to fight Francis Ngannou in Las Vegas next year – in March or February," he told iFL TV. "There’s been no talks this year, because I have got some boxing to do but next year we can have some crazy fights. It’s a massive fight.

"I believe it breaks all pay-per-view records in the United States. Two heavyweight champions going head to head."
Should Ngannou re-sign with the UFC, however, there is next to no chance of the promotion agreeing to co-promote a fight with Fury.
"The fact that they [boxing world champions] are even talking about our guys shows you where boxing is at," UFC president White said last weekend.
"Boxing's been a mess for a long time and it's not going to get straightened out any time soon.
"I'm not doing jack s*** with [Fury's promoter] Bob Arum."
