Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk Rematch Prize Money & Purses

Oleksandr Usyk vs Tyson Fury 2 – the rematch. Fight day is almost here as the two fighters meet in the centre of the ring in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for the second time. Both fighters are expected to earn lucrative purses for the bout, but just what is the exact prize money on offer and how much is each fighter being paid?

Fury vs Usyk 2 Prize Money

The anticipation is palpable for the Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk rematch, with the heavyweight boxing clash taking centre stage at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Saturday night.

This stellar car has once again been put on by His Excellency Turki Alalshikh, who’s involvement in boxing has brought a new lease of life to the sport. Along with that new lease of life and the big fights he is providing fans, His Excellency is also paying fighters extremely handsomely.

Both Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury’s net worth’s have increased massively since fighting in Saudi Arabia, with Turki Alalshikh’s bumper Riyadh Season cards providing fighters with career high paydays and extremely lucrative purses.

With that being said, both ‘The Gypsy King’ and the undefeated Ukrainian are once again expected to pocket huge amounts of money for their rematch on Saturday, December 21st in the Saudi Arabian desert.

Individual figures are yet to be disclosed for each fighter, but talkSPORT have reported that the total Oleksandr Usyk vs Tyson Fury 2 prize money on offer is £150 million ($191m).

First time around, Tyson Fury took home the lion share of the purse as the A-side. However, this time around, given that he won the first fight, Oleksandr Usyk will earn a far greater percentage than he did back in May. This time it’s ‘The Cat’ who is the A-side.

The best boxing betting sites in the UK have priced Usyk as the betting favourite for the rematch bout this weekend. Fury is understandably the underdog here, with the majority of boxing fans expecting the Ukrainian to continue his unbeaten streak. However, write ‘The Gypsy King’ off at your peril.

How Much Did Usyk & Fury Earn In The First Fight?

For the rematch this weekend, it has been widely reported that Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk will split the £150 million fight purse. An exact purse split is yet to be disclosed, but the Ukrainian could be on course for a larger purse than his British counterpart this time as the A-side.

For the first fight back in May, the undisputed world heavyweight title contest, it was ‘The Gypsy King’ who took home the bigger purse. £115 million was reportedly the total purse for the first Fury vs Usyk fight, which is £34 million less than what the fighters will be pocketed for the rematch this time around.

Tyson Fury took home around 70% of the purse for the first fight, reportedly earning somewhere in the region of £85 million. This was around £55m more than Oleksandr Usyk, who took home a £30 million purse, despite winning the fight and becoming the undisputed champion.

This means that ‘The Cat’ will likely earn over double the amount he did in the first fight, with Fury earning slightly less than he did back in May.

Oleksandr Usyk vs Tyson Fury 2 Fight Purses

Both men are expected to receive an individual fight purse, so depending on which man has their hand raised will determine how much the winner receives.

Looking at both fighters previous purses, it is apparent that Tyson Fury has received the bigger purses consistently throughout his career, in particular since his comeback. Overall, Fury has earned upward of £250 million in his career from fight purses.

Compare that to Oleksandr Usyk, who has earned around £80-85 million during his professional boxing career. It is also worth noting that the 37-year-old has earned £76 million of this in his last seven fights, and over £75m of this has come since his move up to heavyweight from cruiserweight.

It is no secret that ‘The Gypsy King’ is the bigger draw and has received the bigger paydays, but that won’t be the case for the rematch this weekend. At the end of the day, Usyk won the first fight and deserved to be the A-side for this rematch. Both men are in for big pay days and both thoroughly deserve it.
