Anticipation is building ahead of Tyson Fury’s huge heavyweight title fight against Dillian Whyte.
After months of uncertainty, speculation and no shortage of arguments, the high-profile all-British showdown was finally agreed for next month.
Fury will put the WBC title he won from Deontay Wilder and subsequently successfully defended in an unforgettable trilogy clash against the American on the line on again in what is shaping up to be a massive night of boxing in the capital.
It will be Fury’s first fight on UK soil in nearly four years, with all of his last five fights taking place in the United States. The self-proclaimed ‘Gypsy King’ has not competed at home in England since his comeback clash with Sefer Seferi in June 2018, while he battled Francesco Pianeta in Belfast two months later in the build-up to the first Wilder meeting.
Fury has claimed he will likely retire after this homecoming fight.
For Whyte, this contest represents the chance to finally realise his world title dream after years of being a mandatory challenger and legal disputes with the WBC.
He left it very late to finally sign up ahead of last week’s contract deadline and further enraged Fury and promoter Frank Warren by staying at his training camp in Portugal instead of attending the first press conference in London on Tuesday.
