Tyson Fury vs Dillian Whyte: Frank Warren wins purse bid to set-up huge all-British heavyweight clash

Tyson Fury is set to fight Dillian Whyte in a WBC heavyweight title clash.

Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions won the purse bid at £31m, holding off competition from Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom in order to set up the headline bout after a draw out process.

The bidding was held at the WBC headquarters in Mexico City and the result means Fury’s team have control of the fight.

“Queensberry and Top Rank are delighted that WBC and lineal world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury will defend his titles against Dillian Whyte following today’s purse bids,” read a statement from Warren.

“A venue and date for the fight will be announced in due course.”

Both a venue and a date for the fight is yet to be announced but it will mark the Fury’s first bout in England since his win over Sefer Seferi in Manchester back in June 2018.

It must, however, take place before April 29, 2022.

The Manchester Arena in Manchester and the Principality Stadium in Cardiff have both been mooted as potential locations.

Reacting to the news, Fury took to Twitter to say: “Big GK is coming home! UK baby!”
