When is Tyson Fury vs Dillian Whyte? Date, UK time and tickets for Wembley fight

Tyson Fury and Dillian Whyte will do battle at Wembley Stadium on April 23 for the WBC world heavyweight championship. The blockbuster bout will take place at the national stadium in one of the biggest British boxing spectacles in recent memory.

Whyte’s team had delayed putting pen to paper on his side of the contract because of a disagreement over his split of the fight purse but an agreement was struck in February. Wythenshawe’s Fury will hope to defend his WBC title having retained it with an 11th-round knockout of Deontay Wilder in his trilogy bout against the American in September.

Whyte opted against appearing at the first pre-fight press conference earlier this month, leaving Fury to speak to the media alone. Tickets went on sale a day later with a huge demand - although some remain available for fans to buy on resale.

Fury has claimed he will retire after facing Whyte, saying: "I've got stuff I want to do, a lot of opportunities that don't involve me getting brain damage. I've got six kids and a wife. When is enough enough? Why do I have to be one of those people who went on too long and got injured? Just had one too many fights and blew it all for what? A few more quid?

"I want to retire on top, unbeaten heavyweight champion of the world. I want to do a Netflix documentary, a Hollywood movie, and be a good husband, father and son. Most of all I just want to be happy, and that's probably the hardest thing."

Here is everything you need to know ahead of the fight:

When is Fury vs Whyte?

Fury's camp had always wanted his return to the ring to take place in March but the considerable delays in setting-up the bout with Whyte made that impossible.

Purse bids were delayed on four occasions, while contracts were only finalised on the final day that was set in the deadline.

As such, Fury's fight will be a little later in the year than was anticipated and will take place on Saturday, April 23rd.

Where is Fury vs Whyte?

Had Fury's camp got their wish with a March date, the venue was highly expected to have been the Principality Stadium in Cardiff due to the fact it is roofed.

However, the push back by a month has opened up different, and arguably better, options for the fight and London will take centre stage.

It has been confirmed Wembley Stadium will play host to Fury's bout against Whyte on April 23rd, following on from Joshua's victory against Alexander Povetkin in September 2018.

What time is Fury vs Whyte?

Fury vs Whyte will take place under the Wembley arch at 10pm, the Gypsy King's promoter Warren has confirmed.

Can I buy tickets to Fury vs Whyte?

There was huge demand for tickets when they went on sale on Wednesday, March 2 with some fans reporting online queues of over 200,000 on the Ticketmaster website.

Warren has lodged for the attendance to be made higher, seeking an attendance of 100,000 - which would make it the most attended fight in UK history.

Such an expansion would be welcomed by supporters, providing more opportunity for them to attend, but tickets are still available - albeit for an expensive price. On Ticketmaster, the cheapest price for a pair of tickets is £401.50 for seats in the highest tier at Wembley - so you'd better bring your binoculars.

For a seat closer to the action, in the second tier, the cheapest price currently available for a pair of tickets is a whopping £577.50 each. When searching for the 'best seats', the cheapest price for that criteria is £896.37 each - with the next cheapest being a whopping £1160 each.

On top of that, all ticket prices still need a handling fee to be added, as well as potentially delivery fees, and ticket sales are limited to a maximum of six per person and per household.

How can I watch Fury vs Whyte?

BT Sport will hold broadcasting rights in the UK. The fight will be live on PPV while viewers in the USA can tune in via ESPN. A live stream will be available on BT platforms.

BT Sport's Box Office has previously showcased Fury's trilogy bout against Wilder, as well as Jake Paul's bouts that had Tommy Fury on the undercard before he was set to face Paul himself in December.

What has Fury said?

"It's been a rollercoaster of a ride. I've been across the ocean and now – after four years away – I get to come back to Wembley Stadium with almost 100,000 fans there.

"I am putting this on for those who travelled out to Las Vegas and the fans who stayed up until 5am to watch on BT Sport. Now they can come and watch on home soil and be a part of history.

"People will be talking about this event saying where were you when this happened on that night of April 23, 2022 in years to come. When Tyson Fury smashed this fella to pieces in front of home fans in the UK.

"There hasn't been a bigger British heavyweight fight since Lennox Lewis against Frank Bruno. It could be over in round one or in round six but I don't think it will go past that."
