Tyson Fury sparring partner claims Gypsy King isn't world's best heavyweight

Tyson Fury's sparring partner Alen Babic has claimed that the Gypsy King is NOT the best heavyweight in world boxing - instead handing that crown to fellow British star Joe Joyce.

Fury takes on Derek Chisora at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday evening in what will be a battle of the Brits, with Fury looking for his third victory over 'Del Boy' after beating him in 2011 and 2014. With a potential bout with Anthony Joshua falling through due to a multitude of reasons, fans were reasonably dismayed at the decision which has seen the duo long considered the top two in the nation fail to face one another.

But with the fight on the horizon and as Fury's sparring partner for the bout, Babic has claimed that the two-time world heavyweight champion is not the best in his weight class, with Joyce his choice as the best in the UK and the world.

“I think Fury is going to win it. There’s no stopping Tyson Fury. Fury is calling out Joe Joyce - how crazy is that? In my humble opinion Joe Joyce is the dark horse in the heavyweight division and the best heavyweight on the planet right now," Babic said to Boxing Betting.

"I’ve sparred with Joyce and rate him very highly. And this Gypsy King is calling Joe Joyce out - he’s the only one. Nobody calls out Joe Joyce. That mentality of Fury is unbeatable.

“Chisora is dangerous for any human alive. I’m a big fan of Chisora and a big fan of Fury. These are two guys that I love. Chisora has those wide-looping hands, wide-looping crosses. Chisora’s a very dangerous guy and if he catches him clean he’s going to put him down. But Fury will rise. He may put him down, I don’t count that out, but Fury will rise again. Fury will keep rising like he did with Deontay Wilder.”

The fight takes place on Saturday, December 3.
