Tyson Fury set to embark on 'movie acting career' after stepping away from boxing

Tyson Fury is keen to turn his hand to movie acting after stepping away from boxing, and his dream role would be a part in the Fast & Furious franchise.

The Gypsy King, 34, left fans in meltdown last week when he confirmed his retirement in a social media post - but the heavyweight champion has already set his sights on a new career.

The boxing champion released his retirement statement, insisting: "Massive thanks to everyone who had an input in my career over the years and after long hard conversations I've finally decided to walk away and on my 34th birthday I say Bon Voyage."

Speaking to The Ring magazine, Tyson said he's been toying with the idea of becoming a movie star.

"I've done well out of boxing. The world is open to so many things now. I'm doing a Netflix documentary at the moment.

"Who knows? You might even see me on the silver screen."

He added in the Ring interview: "I'm going to be recording an album soon. Yeah, I might do a little bit with Ed Sheeran, or Adele."

It wouldn't be the first time the boxing champ found himself in the recording studio.

Tyson recorded a Christmas song called Bad Sharon with Robbie Williams in 2019 and he also partnered with Don McLean for a modern rendition of American Pie to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the classic song's release.

Despite his desires to move away from boxing for good and try his hand at acting or singing, Fury's boxing promoter Frank Warren has already suggested the star has itchy feet' - adding that he thinks it won't be long until the fighter is in search of his next opponent.

It comes as the boxer has reportedly been given under two weeks to decide whether to vacate his heavyweight world title.

Tyson announced his latest retirement on Friday, four months after first claiming to be hanging up his gloves following his stoppage win over Dillian Whyte in April, and he followed up this claim by vacating his Ring magazine belt which recognised him as the best heavyweight in the world.

The boxer has now been given until August 26 to confirm his retirement to the WBC whose belt he has held since he knocked out Deontay Wilder in 2020.

"We had communication with his promoter and we gave him more than 10 days, until August 26, to confirm in writing if it is a final decision and in that way proceed and address the issue," WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman told Izquierdazo.
