Tyson Fury's return to the ring could be set to be a unification bout with Oleksandr Usyk, as Anthony Joshua is reportedly ready to step aside.
Joshua has been locked in for a rematch with Usyk, who he lost his three heavyweight belts to in September, while Fury has been mandated to defend his WBC heavyweight title against Dillian Whyte.
However, an agreement with Whyte regarding purse split has been unable to be agreed and purse bids have been delayed once more - now set to take place on Wednesday.
The ever-changing situation could now come to a head and the Telegraph reports Joshua is ready to step aside in a £15m agreement.
That is likely to see the winner of a Fury-Usyk bout face off against Joshua later this year, which could see fans finally get to see the fight they've dreamed of with Fury and Joshua going head-to-head.
Last week, Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn told fans to 'expect the unexpected', but the big challenge now will be Whyte.
Purse bids for the Fury-Whyte fight have already been delayed three times and the London fighter remains in arbitration talks with the WBC regarding the delay he has faced to get his title shot.
A unification bout would knock him further back, particularly with the winner to face Joshua, and Whyte would likely object to the situation.
However, Fury has stated previously that he is prepared to vacate his belt in order to pursue a fight with Joshua and that could now happen - likely after a unification bout went ahead.
That could open the door for Whyte to battle for the title against Joseph Parker, who is also well-placed in the WBC rankings but has made it clear he won't face off against Fury, his close friend.
